"The history was interesting and delivered in quite an engaging way. Shame about the teenagers and their parents who wouldn't shut up during the tour.
Suggestions: Making real ghosts out of people who persist on talking while the host is telling a story. "

"Suggestion: Rattle some chains in the background; have someone jump out in a skeleton suit...use your imaginations!"
TOOWONG CEMETERY Ghost Tour - 1 March 2008
REPLY: In response to your suggestion about having someone jump out at the group dressed in a skeleton costume all I can say is that the reasons we do not do this is that the real spirits and ghosts present at the sites visited do not like it and would stay away. We try to create an atmosphere which draws Them close through eerie story telling which They like very much -They sense fear, you see.
Many of the places we visit are sacred historic places such as cemeteries and access is a privilege. It would be disrespectful to have pretend ghosts leaping out in a place where people died, were murdered or lie buried.
And simply because most clients do not want this. Pretend ghosts annoy more people than delight.
Do you want a pretend "Ghost" jumping out at you on a Ghost Tour? Tell us what you think

REPLY: The reason Ghost Tours do not have extras covered in sheets leaping from the shadows to give cheap thrills is because the real spirits and ghosts present at the sites visited do not like it and would stay away. We try to create an atmosphere which draws Them close through eerie story telling which They like very much (They sense fear, you see).
There is a risk of injury if clients were frightened deliberately in a dark and unfamiliar place.

"We were all geared up for a spooky nite but felt it was a bit let down and we waisted our money. felt the tour guides where way to dramatised if we new it was going to be a theactrical thing wouldnt have bothered we didnt feel it was scary at all cause you could tell it was a rehearsed thing very disapointed sorry we were going to book the boggo road tour also when we booked the toowong tour glad we didnt now if that is as dramatised as this tour was"

REPLY: We are sorry you did not enjoy your tour through Toowong Cemetery.
Ghost Tours prides itself on telling actual stories that have been recorded through the years while other tour operators rely on client testimonial and questionable psychics to build their stories.
Every tale you heard on the night was true and researched thoroughly. The stories are then written into a script to be delivered by a creepy Ghost Host. This is the only concession we have to theatrics. Many people want to have a creepy host or people jumping out and scare them - we have found the middle ground by creating characters that relate to a ghost story of the site.
Some people may prefer a host whom speaks normally, but most would prefer to hear the story delivered with some theatrical flare. As we run a Ghost Tour, and as most people expect, we try to be creepy.
That being said at Ghost Tours we avoid overt theatrics, over the top dramatics and false accents. This is not to say that we may not have a theatrical climax or end to the tour but our main emphasis is on the delivery of stories through powerful words.
Would you prefer a plain non creepy tour guide or a ghost host? Tell us what you think

"I was treated to your tour by my best friend on Saturday night. I thought it was a fantastic experience... I was impressed to learn not only about the dramatic deaths and afterlives of the Toowong Cemetery residents, but also on Brisbane.
Our guides were great, they kept in character and really added to the experience. You are obviously well aware the secret to a successful tour is all in the delivery, which you nailed as neatly as a coffin lid! They involved everyone and showed respect for the location.
I'm already looking forward to when you will be hosting the Bloody Brisbane tour, my partner loves crime and history, so it ticks all the boxes for a great night out! No doubt there will be a few of us attending though, as I will be singing your praises to anyone who asks me my thoughts on your tours.
I even bought a copy of the Toowong Cemetery book to send to my Mother in Adelaide, she'll love it!
Well done Mr Sim, and a special thanks to our story teller and gate keeper hosts on Saturday night."

"Thankyou for organising our ghost tour last Friday night. Everyone had a fabulous time! Jack & Mary were both intriguing & entertaining, and our rowdy group would like to pass on their thanks for keeping them amused. We were having too much fun to be too 'spooked' on the night, but several of the group have mentioned that they have since had some 'spooky' moments reflecting on the stories told that evening, and some are planning to attend one of the other ghost tours in the near future. Thankyou "

"Many thanks to Mary for a wonderful tour through Towoong Cemetery last Saturday night - it was an extreme eye opener (in many ways). It was fantastic to hear the history of Toowong Cemetery – we drive by but have never taken the time to stop. It's surprising how vast the land size is - we will definitely return for a walk around during the day to discover more of the amazing graves, crypts and tombstones - plus return for another tour one night....to see if we experience the same sensations and see the same inhabitants during the hours of darkness."
