Ghost Tours was first conceived of when a young Jack Sim was growing up in Brisbane in The Seventies. Brisbane then was a seemingly quiet river city, but even as a child he became aware that if you scratched the surface there was a lot of darkness around town.
For many years Jack kept notes and details about various haunted places, occasionally doing his own amateur investigations and interviews with local residents to add to his oral history collection.
After travelling overseas he came back with a new appreciation of Australia’s Haunted Heritage and decided that, although this country was relatively young, in 200 odd years it certainly packed in an awful lot of Horror, History & Hauntings. |
Ghost Tours officially began in January 1998 and is Australia’s second longest running Ghost Tour (the longest running is Port Arthur’s famous Ghost Tours).
The tours began when the owner of the company, Jack Sim, approached the then curator of Boggo Road Gaol in Brisbane, Don Walters, about running historical tours and re-enactments within the walls of that iconic institution & the Brisbane City Council to run tours in the city’s graveyards.
Stay tuned for more of the Ghost Tours story over the coming months…
