It is fitting that the very building that represents Brisbane
is haunted... Brisbane City Hall, the grand sandstone building
where local government meets, commands King George Square
in the Central Business District. Constructed during the 1920's
and opened in 1930, no expense was spared in its design. Over
a decade was devoted to completing the design elements of
this building. The uplifting modern building with its Art
deco and Classical Greek imagery made a welcome addition to
the Brisbane skyline during the period later to be called
the Great Depression.
Strangely, it did not take long for the building to gain a
reputation for being haunted.
