Boggo Road Gaol - the most notorious Australian prison of the 20th century is haunted by its violent past.
Named after the boggy road which led to it, now called Annerley Road, for over a century the prison dominated the skyline of the capital of Queensland. More than 100 met their end within its red brick walls – executed, murdered, by suicide and from old age. Number Two Division is now the only surviving section of Boggo Road Gaol - the scene of riots and roof-top protests in the 1980s.
Prison warders and inmates saw ghosts at night - stories go back to the 1930s. Many officers and prisoners had experiences they couldn't explain. If a jail was ever haunted, then Boggo Road Gaol would be.
Don't end up inside…
