Client Ghost Stories
Below are some of the tales we have heard from clients undertaking our tours...
"While walking through the Valley of Death, I had my light pointed at the ground and was watching where I was walking, yet it felt like something hit my ankle and I stumbled a little. I looked at the ground and it was flat with nothing else that could have been kicked at me. Once we were past the grove and standing to hear the Mayne story, I kept looking back down toward the grove because something kept catching my eye. It looked like a lady, all in black with long silky black hair and the whitest face, kept coming out onto the street, looking up at the group then going back into the grove. I noticed this movement about 4 times. I have to say I wasn't paying attention to the Mayne story after I saw it the first time. Once we were standing around the street post in a circle holding hands I didn't see any more of her, even though I did stand facing that way so I could keep an eye out. The only other experience I had was strange behaviour of my torch. I had actually brought two of my own torches along, both brand new unused LED lights with new batteries. While we were on our way up to Peter Jackson's grave, my light which had probably only been used for about an hour and a half maximum, started flickering on and off and dimming in and out. I chose to find the spare one in my bag which was also brand new and never used for more than a brief moment to test it, and straight away the torch started dimming as well. Once we were back down from his grave and past the Jewish graves it stopped dimming. I turned it on and off a couple of times and had no more issues; I even checked the original torch which seemed to be working well and as bright as ever again. Not sure if this is just coincidental, but I've never had issues like that with 2 brand new LED torches before. I will definitely have to try my best to get back to Brisbane for the other tours or an investigation."

"Tonight, I participated in the Dutton Park Cemetary tour. Right near the end of the tour, just before we arrived at the spot where the 'nuns for hire' story is told, I got the most god-awful stench of death. I knew the smell immediately. I am a nurse - I have smelt death. The smell only lasted for the briefest of seconds as I was walking along and, when I retraced my steps to try and recapture the stench, it had mysteriously disappeared."

"My boyfriend and I did the CBD walk. While we were inside Brisbane Arcade, we were told the story of the lady ghost who resided there. As we were walking around the second story balcony my boyfriend was walking infront of me, and started swiping at his head and neck.He asked if there was a bug or a moth on him, he said that he had felt something "flutter" accross his skin, but there was nothing. Later, after he got a cold shiver in the back hallways, we learned the the ghost likes to touch people on the back of the neck, and often appears walking through the wall right where he was standing. We are convinced he caought the attention of someone up there!"

A few mates and I took the tour in the Toowong Cementary and as we slowly made our way through the creepy night, we came to a stop and I felt a rather large, cold, creepy feeling hand on my shoulder. I turned around expecting one of my mates to be trying to freak me out except i knew I was at the back of the line. I looked up and saw no one. but the hand was still on my shoulder.. I brushed it off feeling it leave and though no more of it. A few mintues later the same thing happened and this time I jumped as there were 3 hands on my shoulder. I suddenly heard screaming and looked around but again saw no one. My mates were laughing at me as they couldn't hear a thing. I was terrified. I heard more screaming. Then a strong wind picked up. I then wet myself in terror as all of a sudden the screaming stopped, the wind stopped and every!
thing went dead quiet. The tour guide let me borrow his pants and we continued with the tour never to see or hear anything ever again...

Note: As Ghost Tours has not received any reports of clients wetting their pants on this tour, we assume the end of the story is humorous exaggeration. Of course we do love a story that is both creepy and amusing.
"We were touring the arcade where the ghost haunts the upstairs restroom... Well tonight, when we were going up one by one, a room in the area had what we thought was a person cleaning and listening to music. It was my turn to go investigate, and when I passed the room being cleaned and rounded the corner to visit the haunted bathroom the music stopped and I heard someone leave the room and enter another room then quickly go down the far stairs which I just came up. My girlfriend said no one went down or up those stairs. So now I am a little creeped out as I am writing this.... Great tour but you might want to avoid the arcade's upper restroom portion if you don't want to risk meeting a ghost."

"Nothing much happened until we reached the middle of the tour. I just had a feeling that someone was behind us, and when my friend and i turned around we both saw a figure of a person dressed in long black clothing bending over a grave and when we took a picture of this figure a number of orbs were present in the picture instead of this figure. We took many photos that night and have some very impressive pictures that can only be explained as ghosts."

"Several of us had some creepy experiences. Before we headed one by one down the grove, 3 of us distinctly heard someone running to our right amongst the graves, and the footsteps were too heavy to belong to an animal. I heard a bell chime while we were doing the circle and a sigh when I was sitting next to the moving statue. My other half and a couple of her friends saw McGregor smile when Lily recalled the story of his face turning to watch two lovers smooching ~ they said the smile was quite wry, like he was saying to himself "Oh yeah, that was a good day"."

"For an instant, in the torch light, I saw a young man with dark hair, dressed in a victorian style suit leaning against the wall of the Mayne family crypt. He was smiling at the group. At first I thought it was our guide but he was behind the group. In another instant, the young man was gone. I found out later when talking to our guide about him that another lady in the group had also seen the same young man."

"When we got to the Ralston grave I stood behind everyone and I just felt I had to move, like I just wanted to stand in the front so I moved up to a spot I felt comfortable in. The tour guide was talking and said something about the mans wife and I just got this feeling, like, I knew she stood here, no doubt. The tour guide continued the story and then he said that the spot I stood in was the exact spot where Mary Ralston's ghost had been seen standing, he also told me that more often than not when he did the tour a girl would stand in that exact spot. He went on to tell us about how everybody's photos were taken except for Mary's and I almost started balling.
The tour guide told us that he thought she stayed around because she didn't want to be forgotten like she was when she was alive and a woman I was on the tour with (a distant relative of Mary's) turned to me and said "I won't forget you, darling." and the wind picked right up.
It was an amazing feeling."

"My Girlfriend and I were at the south side of Ipswich cemetery away from the group. We decided to investigate a plot that had a angel above it, as we got closer we saw another plot a few meters up the path that had a larger life size angel on the grave. We both shined our torches up to it. We both froze. We were both standing at different angles, I was to the right and My girlfriend was to the left. We had both seen the stone statue move.
"Kate saw its hand make a fist and release and I had see it facing behind its self. We both went closer to the plot to see who was buried there. As we got closer my whole body was tingling and I felt anxious. We both stood in front of the plot and read the names of the 3 children buried there. Kate was suddenly struck by fear and wanted to leave. There was utter terror in her voice. She began to walk back to the group. I however stayed and asked 2 questions the first "Is there anyone here?" nothing happened. Second "If there i
s someone here can you show me?" at this point i was swept by emotion and began to get teary, still looking at the angels face with my torch lighting it up. The angles head turned to face the group. I ran back to the group and told them about our experience. The group came back down to the plot and used a pendulum and asked some questions relating to my experience..... the replies were positive......."

Suddenly we heard a baby cry - perhaps 3-4 times and then stop. We both thought this was strange as there were definitely no babies on this tour! We later asked the tour guides and they thought it was pretty amazing.
There is
a possibility that we heard the calls of a night bird, but after hours of searching the internet we came to the conclusion that it was perhaps just an 'unexplained' phenomena!"

As the host finished the story and the tour moved on, I waited for everyone to go so I was at the back of the group. I was about to move until I heard someone's clothes swoosh behind me. "My sister had a few experiences on this tour. Firstly she saw a figure cross the road up ahead while we were walking thru the valley of death. She also saw numerous dark figures moving between graves. Her freakiest was toward the end of the tour after we visited Peter Jackson's grave, we were waiting on the road for our guide and volunteer to catch up to us. When she looked back up towards the grave, she saw what appeared to be a family standing in a circle holding hands on the hill. Unfortunately, she couldn't make out detail, but was adamant that there was a man, woman, and small child silhouetted. Would be interesting to see if there is a family buried around that area. "

In the hallway at the arcade as we stood against the wall listening to the story of the female spirit, I felt like the floor was moving under my feet, the only way to describe this is that I felt like I was in a lift the whole time I was standing there. Then we were asked to walk the stairs one by one. As I took my first step my legs felt like lead. The rest of the walk, even across the hall to the steps to go down, I felt like my body was heavy and my legs were lead, I found it difficult to walk. The injuries were consistent with being grabbed by someone with long sharp finger nails. He said he felt something as we walked in pairs along the valley of death along 12th Ave, but dismissed the awkward feeling at the time. "During the story of Patrick Kenneth I felt a sharp pain run up the bones of my left arm. It was very sudden and I could think of no reason why it would hurt. I thought perhaps that somebody involved with the story may have had an injury to do with their left arm and I was experiencing their pain empathetically. When the story finished, with no mention of an arm related injury, I dismissed the idea of the pain being supernatural. At the next story it was still hurting and when the host recounted how Greg the gravedigger slammed his attacker's arm in the lid of the coffin I thought perhaps this could be what I was experiencing. As soon as we moved past the grave the pain instantly vanished. As we made our way back through the cemetery my arm began to hurt again and I realised we were back at the same grave. I quickly moved past the grave and continued up the road and once again the pain vanished immediately."

"Some of the young guests swear that they saw something dressed in black hiding in the shadows near the grove. Nearly everyone had problems with their torches and the lantern that my son was carrying kept going out. He was also left with Lilly at Peter Jackson's grave and the statue's eyes followed him. I can't remember the name of the grave, but it was the one with the man sitting and sometimes you could feel his pulse, I didn't feel a pulse but he half smiled and looked right at me. A friend has taken pictures of the gravesite where the widow cries and tombstone didn't come out but a mist all over the bottom of the picture did. ghostly?: "Yes"
What did you experience?: "Where do I start?? At Christ Church, I experienced the very strong smell of pipe tobacco, so strong I thought the person next to me was smoking it, within at least 3 seconds, it vanished. As we hopped back on the bus leaving Suncorp Stadium, I saw a rather heavy-set gentleman in a black suit walking towards the graveyard. At that moment my partner showed me a photo he had just taken, which appeared to be the face of the man I had seen in that very spot! "Both my friend Lachelle and I truly believe we witnessed what is referred to as The Angel. I firstly saw a black figure appear at the top of the hill, I thought my eyes were playing tricks, until Lachelle said to me "you can see it too, can't you?", When I told her I could see it, we both could not believe that this figure started to slowly float down the hill towards us.
It moved in such a strange way and when I have tried to explain this movement I cannot think of anyway else but to say the figure was floating, it would get to one headstone and then stop and then it would progress a little further down the hill, coming down the hill on an angle. I so wanted to run away, but I was rooted to the ground, I am normally a cold person, but the young guy next to me could not believe how cold my hands had become, he was a complete stranger to me. Lachelle could see more detail than me, all I could see was the outline of a black figure in what appeared to be a long black robe, Lachelle could see whiteness, where the face should have been and she also saw a book in it's hands. Even as I write this I feel the hairs standing up on the back of my neck... I cannot prove what I seen on Saturday night, but I know it was there, I am a true believer now."

When we were at the grove, looking back up the hill to the junction... both my sister-in-law and I were both intrigued by something, as we both kept looking back up the hill, and could both feel something, as to why we kept looking back up the hill, although we couldn't see anything. We also only pointed this out to each other, after we got home."
