Client Ghost Stories

Below are some of the tales we have heard from clients undertaking our tours...

"Not too sure but at the start of the tour I thought I saw someone standing on the road watching us. There were times that I swear that we were being followed. At one time as we passed some sign post, something rattled and it wasn't the sign posts. I knew there was SOMETHING there, something was watching us."

"I do not know if it was 'ghostly' but it was definitely weird. When we had walked into the Ipswich Cemetery, I suddenly became really cold. It was a cold evening but I got the strange feeling like I had stepped into a freezer. The moment I stepped out of the cemetery the cold feeling had left ... weird!!!!!"

"At the Ipswich Cemetery we visited a few of the grave angels which supposedly cry tears of blood on rainy nights. As the host finished the story and the tour moved on, I waited for everyone to go so I was at the back of the group. I was about to move until I heard someone's clothes swoosh behind me. I looked, expecting to see the host, but instead there was noone there. I was very surprised because it actually felt like there was someone standing right behind me. I quickly caught up with the group and told my mother, leaving someone else to be last in line!"

"I did take lots of photos, one had a bright light source near one of the graves, i returned sunday to check for possible reflective surfaces and took photos from the same position in the day to overlay to see if there was any other cause, but have yet to do so. It was too bright and uniform for an insect which is why it intrigued me."

"My sister had a few experiences on this tour. Firstly she saw a figure cross the road up ahead while we were walking thru the valley of death. She also saw numerous dark figures moving between graves. Her freakiest was toward the end of the tour after we visited Peter Jackson's grave, we were waiting on the road for our guide and volunteer to catch up to us. When she looked back up towards the grave, she saw what appeared to be a family standing in a circle holding hands on the hill. Unfortunately, she couldn't make out detail, but was adamant that there was a man, woman, and small child silhouetted. Would be interesting to see if there is a family buried around that area. "

"When we had to walk down the path in couples my sister and i both saw a figure to the left down near the creek we believe it was a woman and she was dressed in olden time clothes but they looked like rags and she had long hair and it looked wild and a mess. also i personally saw a man when we stopped the first time he was standing up on the hill near a headstone he had long brown hair and he was dressed in what i thought was armour but when i went to get a better look he was gone"

"Ok, I don't make scenes so I did not mention this at the time. In the hallway at the arcade as we stood against the wall listening to the story of the female spirit, I felt like the floor was moving under my feet, the only way to describe this is that I felt like I was in a lift the whole time I was standing there. Then we were asked to walk the stairs one by one. As I took my first step my legs felt like lead. The rest of the walk, even across the hall to the steps to go down, I felt like my body was heavy and my legs were lead, I found it difficult to walk. As soon as we left that hallway these heavy, floor moving sensations vanished."

"The day after the Toowong Ghost tour one of the guys in our group reported to us that he now had unexplained scratches on his upper arm. The injuries were consistent with being grabbed by someone with long sharp finger nails. He said he felt something as we walked in pairs along the valley of death along 12th Ave, but dismissed the awkward feeling at the time. We've tried to come up with an obvious answer for this occurrence but in the end we just had to accept that he may have experienced something else during the tour. I'm just glad he told me during the daylight hours after the tour was over. Very freaky and definitely a little creepy."

"The statue that moves (Mr McGregor). We had cut through the cemetery to get to the front gates. I thought the statue was facing us & got a friend to shine the torch onto it, but it was facing the other way. "During the story of Patrick Kenneth I felt a sharp pain run up the bones of my left arm. It was very sudden and I could think of no reason why it would hurt. I thought perhaps that somebody involved with the story may have had an injury to do with their left arm and I was experiencing their pain empathetically. When the story finished, with no mention of an arm related injury, I dismissed the idea of the pain being supernatural. At the next story it was still hurting and when the host recounted how Greg the gravedigger slammed his attacker's arm in the lid of the coffin I thought perhaps this could be what I was experiencing. As soon as we moved past the grave the pain instantly vanished. As we made our way back through the cemetery my arm began to hurt again and I realised we were back at the same grave. I quickly moved past the grave and continued up the road and once again the pain vanished immediately."

"When we arrived at the mayne murder family crypt, i felt a thickness in the air, as if i was inhaling this thickness. i felt like i couldn't breathe.

Another experience i had was when we reached the end of our tour and i was looking over at MR. mcgregor, as many people have said that he likes to walk around the cemetery, i couldn't help but to look over at his statue. i continued to looked then he moved his head the right. then back to the position he was originally in."

"Some of the young guests swear that they saw something dressed in black hiding in the shadows near the grove. Nearly everyone had problems with their torches and the lantern that my son was carrying kept going out. He was also left with Lilly at Peter Jackson's grave and the statue's eyes followed him. I can't remember the name of the grave, but it was the one with the man sitting and sometimes you could feel his pulse, I didn't feel a pulse but he half smiled and looked right at me. A friend has taken pictures of the gravesite where the widow cries and tombstone didn't come out but a mist all over the bottom of the picture did. There were cool breezes where there shouldn't have been one and we will be going on another one hopefully later this year."

"At the grove before the Valley of Death, there were a few shadows flitting about in the trees - could be the lighting but the surrounding gave me an air of dread. Then I found out that site is used for satanic rituals. I also felt suffocated (in terms of shortness of breath) when I walked past the few graves after the twelfth avenue. Then the feeling disappeared."

Did you experience something ghostly?: "Yes"
What did you experience?: "Where do I start?? At Christ Church, I experienced the very strong smell of pipe tobacco, so strong I thought the person next to me was smoking it, within at least 3 seconds, it vanished. As we hopped back on the bus leaving Suncorp Stadium, I saw a rather heavy-set gentleman in a black suit walking towards the graveyard. At that moment my partner showed me a photo he had just taken, which appeared to be the face of the man I had seen in that very spot! Upon taking a closer look at my photos from the night, there seemed to be a blue mist sitting on a pew in the Christ Church."

"Both my friend Lachelle and I truly believe we witnessed what is referred to as The Angel. I firstly saw a black figure appear at the top of the hill, I thought my eyes were playing tricks, until Lachelle said to me "you can see it too, can't you?", When I told her I could see it, we both could not believe that this figure started to slowly float down the hill towards us.
It moved in such a strange way and when I have tried to explain this movement I cannot think of anyway else but to say the figure was floating, it would get to one headstone and then stop and then it would progress a little further down the hill, coming down the hill on an angle. I so wanted to run away, but I was rooted to the ground, I am normally a cold person, but the young guy next to me could not believe how cold my hands had become, he was a complete stranger to me. Lachelle could see more detail than me, all I could see was the outline of a black figure in what appeared to be a long black robe, Lachelle could see whiteness, where the face should have been and she also saw a book in it's hands. Even as I write this I feel the hairs standing up on the back of my neck... I cannot prove what I seen on Saturday night, but I know it was there, I am a true believer now."

"When we were walking back from the grove... I was feeling something patting me on the back, since I was at the back of the line, and none of my friends or my partner were behind me, as they were in front of me, I can only put it down to being a spirit.

When we were at the grove, looking back up the hill to the junction... both my sister-in-law and I were both intrigued by something, as we both kept looking back up the hill, and could both feel something, as to why we kept looking back up the hill, although we couldn't see anything. We also only pointed this out to each other, after we got home."

“Just wanted to let you know that [we] enjoyed the Toowong tour and look forward to hearing more ghastly stories on the next tour... The tour was executed professionally and the historical knowledge is phenomenal - it clearly shows you guys are passionate about what you do. Your tour certainly brings out the nostalgic aspect therefore creates curiosity of the unknown realms... after we were leaving the spot where the Lily story was told I could swear I saw a black hooded coat entity sitting on a grave site for a split second out of the corner of my eye but when I looked properly it was gone. Madam can't move that quickly or can ssshhhee dodododo dodododo. Look forward to next spooky encounter.”
